Sumo Splash – The beginning
In our P3SJ (Programação 3D para Simulação de Jogos) course at IST we were given the task to create a game or a graphic simulation in which we would apply the techniques learned during the semester. We chose to do a game, and I’ll try to explain it’s concept in this post.
The world is composed of a bunch of platforms floating in the water. The player is a sumo wrestler, whose goal is simply not to fall into the water. It won’t be that easy, however, not only because the buoyant platforms are unstable, but also because there will be several AI-controlled NPCs trying to make him fall, and win the game. The AI part is our project for our agents course, AASMA (Agentes Autónomos e Sistemas Multi-Agente).
Well, it’s a simple concept, as you can see
. In this post you can find our concept video, showing footage of similar games or movies that have the same “look and feel”.* We are thinking of making the presentation slides available online as well (it shows the platform’s and the character’s first skecthes).
*Tomake the movie fully understandable, we should probably mention our project for P3SJ had two restrictions: No sex, No violence!
